Death
Funeral services for Mrs. Ella V. Furr, former postmaster at Pleasant Hill in Lincoln county, were held from the Pleasant Hill Baptist church. The Rev. Alton Pierce, who she helped to rear, officiated at the service, and interment followed in the church cemetery. Mrs. Furr, who had made her home in Jackson for the last eight years with her daughter, Mrs. Annie Mae Johnson, died at the family residence. She had recently undergone surgery. Born and reared in the Pleasant Hill community, she had served as postmaster there, owned and operated a general store, and also a large cattle farm. Her husband, Frank Furr died many years ago. Survivors include three children, J. H. Furr, Pleasant Hill, Mrs. Gladys Perkins, Vicksburg, and Mrs. Annie Mae Johnson, Jackson, five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.Clarion-Ledger, Jackson, Mississippi, July 7, 1954
