Death
BEAUFORT - Larry N. Varner, 68, of Beaufort, formerly of High Point, died Oct. 10, 2010, at Carteret General Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Oct. 23, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church, High Point. He worked as a salesman in the veneer industry for over 35 years. He was also an Eagle Scout and a graduate of St. Andrews College, Laurinburg. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Sherrill Varner of Beaufort; daughters, Samantha Varner Stogner of High Point and Sally Varner Hornstein of Wilmington; son, Jeffrey Charles Varner of Cary; mother, Margaret Furr Keen of Greensboro; sister, Kathleen B. Culbreth of Sophia; brothers, Christopher L. Varner of Wisconsin and Barry S. Bennett of Glenola; and five grandchildren.
