Death
MONROE — Mrs. Betty Hancock, 82, formerly of the Waxhaw Community of Union County, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Miles Secrest in Belmont. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Sally Morgan Furr of Union County. Her first husband, Harvey Flynn, died in 1919 and her second husband, Winfield Hancock, died in 1950. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Jim Crump, Mrs. Clyde Stancel, both of Monroe, Mrs. Miles Secrest, Belmont; two sons, Joe and Johnny T. Flynn of Monroe; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Little, Rock Hill, S. C., Mrs. Mattie Drake, Albemarle; and a brother, Will Furr, Waxhaw. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday from the McEwen Chapel in Monroe, conducted by the Rev. O. L. Yeargin and the Rev. J. B Helms. Interment in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of Johnny T. Flynn, 1625 Secrest ShortCut Road.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, April 2, 1962
