Mrs. Athenae Furr Helms 81, of 1740 W. Laporte Dr. died August 14, 1993, at Cheraw (S.C.) Health Care. Funeral is 3:30 p.m. Monday at McEwen Funeral Home, Charlotte chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 6 tonight. Mrs. Helms, a Charlotte native, retired as an armature winder from Southern Electric Co. after 35 years. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Survivors are her son, Hoyle Helms; daughter, Mrs. Betty Jean Harp of Cheraw; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, NC - Sunday, August 15, 1993
