Death
Gainesville, Ga., March 29- J. C. McConnell, head of the wholesale firm of J. C. McConnell & Co., and one of the most prominent citizens of northeast Georgia, died here this afternoon at 12 o'clock of pneumonia, at the age of 75 years. Mr. McConnell came to Gainesville from Mount Airy thirty years ago and, with his brother, S. E. McConnell, now of Atlanta, and A. B. Christopher, established a retail business which later grew into the present firm. He was actively identified with the First Baptist church. He was a brother of the Rev. F. C. McConnell, of Atlanta; Mrs. T. A. Capps, of Toccoa; Mrs. O. G. Wiley, of Rico, Texas, and Mrs. R. Kethron, of Gainesville. He is survived by two sons, W. R. and Leonard McConnell, of Gainesville, and the following daughters, Mrs. W. J. Carter, Mrs. W. A. Roper, Mrs. C. A. Rudolph, of Gainesville; Mrs. S. G. Riley, of Nacadogches, La., and Mrs. J. R. Tenderson [?], of Cartersville.Endnotes
