Death

SHELBY — Kathryn Furr Palmer, 67, Of 604 Peach St., died Monday at Duke Hospital. Graveside service 11 a.m. Thursday, Sunset Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. John Barnes and the Rev. Linda Kelly. She taught at the Shelby City Schools for 33 years and at the Marion School for 28 years. She retired in 1979. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Precept Bible Study and a graduate of UNC-Greensboro. She was the daughter of the late Ralph L. Furr. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ralph L. Furr of Oakboro; husband, Bill Palmer; daughter, Kathy Palmer Speight of Raleigh; sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Whitaker of Burlington; one granddaughter, Cheryl Ann Speight.
