Death
CONCORD. — Mrs. Mary Jane Phillips Furr, 74, wife of James E. Furr, died Wednesday after an illness of four days. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Thomas B. Deese at the West Concord Baptist Church, with burial in Union Cemetery. Mrs. Furr was born in Rowan County Dec. 5, 1872, the daughter of the late John Wesley and Rebecca Phillips, She had lived in the Brown Mill community of Concord since 1931. Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Roy Redwine, of Charlotte, Mrs. W. M. Page, of Concord, and Mrs. Earl Blackwell, of Concord; four sons, Lee, Atlas, and Charlie Furr, of Concord, and Clyde Furr, of Kannapolis; seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, C. W. Phillips, of Concord; three half-brothers, B. L. and C. H. Phillips, of Charlotte, and Joe W. Phillips, of Concord; and five half-sisters, Mrs. G. E. Ridenour and Mrs. F. A. Blake, of Charlotte, Mrs. A. C. Ketner, of Rockwell, and Mrs. L. O. Cline and Mrs. H. L. Troutman, of Concord.The Charlotte News, Charlotte, North Carolina, August 15, 1947
