Death
Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Pearl Furr, 93, of McKinney, who died Friday afternoon in a McKinney hospital, will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, at Horn-Harris-Crouch Chapel with Dr. James Puckett officiating. The family will be present at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at the Pecan Grove Cemetery. Born March 29, 1888, in Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late James W. Rice. On Sept. 17, 1908 she married Rufus A. Furr in McKinney. She was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church, a member of the McKinney Garden Club, the Euzelian Sunday School Class and the WMU. She owned and operated the Northend Grocery from 1920 to 1943. She is survived by one daughter, Madie Lee Pearson, of Dallas.The Courier-Gazette, McKinney, Texas, July 26, 1981
