Death
KANNAPOLIS — Robert William “Bob” Furr, 1805 Centergrove Road, died Friday (July 8 1994) at the VA Medical Center. He had been in declining health for two years and seriously ill for the past month. Born in Morganton to the late Brevard Allan and Meta Sechler Furr, he was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Navy and the Marines. He was the owner of Furr'’s Garage and Wrecker Service and Rainbow Lakes Recreation Center, Kannapolis. He was also a member of the Center Grove Lutheran Church, Kannapolis. Survivors include wife Edith Miller Furr; sons Michael E. Furr, Cape Canaveral, Fla; daughter Linda Childress, Easley, S.C.; brother Jim Furr, Concord; sister Nell Safrit Concord; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis, conducted by Rev. Maurice Staley. Burial will -be at Carolina Memorial. Plaza Mausoleum. Visitation; 7-9 tonight a Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times the family will gather at the residence.Endnotes
