She was a 1921 graduate of Farm Life School in China Grove NC (class of 5 girls). Farm Life was the first high school class for the Kannapolis City School System. Attended Lenoir-Rhyne College of Hickory. Taught school in the Rowan and Cabarrus area for several years: 1921 primary grades at Patterson School; 1922 Maud Belk Elementary grades; and 1923-25 Woodrow Wilson Elementary. Married in 1924. Retired in 1968 from Cannon Mills Co (sheet department) Four children: Robert "Bob" William Furr, Brevard ALAN Furr, NELL Elizabeth Furr Safrit, and James Kinnard Furr. Her family tree crisscroses as her brother, Harry Andrew Sechler married Meta's husband's (Brevard Aaron Furr) sister Mary Pearl (Furr) Sechler.

Marriage
On Wednesday evening at 7 :30 o'clock at the home of Rev. Mr. Ridenhour, at Kannapolis, on Ridge Avenue. Miss Meta Sechler and Mr. Brevard Furr were quietly married. Mr. Ridenhour officiated. The ring ceremony was used. A few friends were present.. The bride is very popular and has many friends who wish her a long and happy life. She was a member of the North School faculty last year. The groom is the son of J. M. Furr and is a promising young man. The bride and groom left for Charlotte immediately after the ceremony. They left Thursday morning for Asheville, Mt. Mitchell and other parts of Western North Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. Furr will be at home at Shadyville Farm after June 10.Death
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral for Meta Olivia Sechler Furr will be held at 2 pm Saturday at Center Grove Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Maurice Staley. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park, Concord. The family will be at Whitley's Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight. Memorials may be made to Center Grove Lutheran Church, 1601 S Cannon Blvd , Kannapolis, NC 28081. Born Oct 7, 1901, in Rowan County, Mrs. Furr was a daughter of the late Chester G. and Ida Sloop Sechler. A graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, she was an elementary school teacher, having taught in area schools for many years. She later worked for Cannon Mills Co. Plant 1 in the sheet department for a number of years until she retired in 1968. She was a member of Center Grove Lutheran Church where she had been involved in various activities over the years. She was a member of the Senior Citizens of Royal Oaks United Methodist Church and a lifetime resident of the area. Survivors include three sons, James K. Furr of Concord, Robert W. “Bob” Furr of Kannapolis and B. Alan Furr of Kannapolis, with whom she made her home, a daughter, Mrs Glenn (Nell) Safrit of Concord. Also, a brother, Clayton C. Secher of High Point, a sister, Mrs. Glenn (Delette) Overcash of Columbia S.C., seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.Endnotes
