Notes
Death
The funeral of Mrs. Mary Furr Craven, 45, of 4029 Indiana Avenue, widow of Hadley Craven, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church near Candor by the Rev. Coleman Watkins. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at Voglers until 11 a.m. Tuesday. It will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. The family will be at the home of James E. Owens of 122 Melody Lane and at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Mrs. Craven was killed yesterday morning when the car in which she was riding struck a bridge abutment on U.S. 220 just south of Asheboro. Her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter died later at Randolph County Hospital. They were John Edward Craven, 24, Frances Davidson Craven, 21; and their daughter, Malissa Ann Craven, 18 months. They lived on Martinsville, Va., Rt. 4. A Highway Patrol spokesman said the accident occurred about 4:45 a.m. He said the driver apparently went to sleep and the car went off the west side of the road, striking the bridge abutment. The body of Mrs. Craven's son, John Edward Craven, is at McKee Funeral Home in Martinsville, Va., and will be brought to Voglers Funeral Home tonight. The body will be taken back to Martinsville for the funeral. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The Sentinel, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, June 30, 1969
