Death
CONCORD, N. C. Oct. 17. -- Despondency over ill health is believed to have caused Mrs. Bertha Furr, 60, of West Concord, to take her own life this morning by jumping into a 55 foot well. An old pair of shoes an apron and eyeglasses neatly placed on the framework of the well furnished clues that led to discovery of her body shortly after midday. Mrs. Furr was left alone in her home early in the morning and it is not known when she jumped into the well. Water in the well was 15 feet deep and the body was rescued after a man named Franklin climbed down the shaft and placed a rope about it.Salisbury Evening Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, October 18, 1928
