Jackie Furr, the first full-time employee of the World and Tribune Federal Credit Union, died Wednesday. She was 72. Services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Tulsa Bible Church under the direction of Furr Moore’s Funeral Home. When Furr was hired in 1955, the credit union was able to serve its 713 members all day, instead of half-day. She stayed with the credit union 33 years as it moved to three locations and grew to 17 full-time employees and more than 4,000 members. She retired in April as assistant manager. “She was the credit union for so many people. She was just a special person,” said Gordon Eaton, credit union manager. “Jackie was loved by everyone — a professional in every way. She treated all the members with the greatest respect,” said Eaton. Her husband, V.J. ‘‘Buster”’ Furr, said, “She was an avid credit union person — that was her life.” In addition to her husband, of Tulsa, survivors include one son, James Richard Furr of Mena, Ark.; two sisters, Wilma Brown of California, and Katherine Keller, Yukon; and five granddaughters.Tulsa World, Tulsa, Oklahoma, October 13, 1988
