Death
Hilda Porter, 83, of Dyer, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 in Fort Smith. She was born September 11, 1932 in Dyer to the late H.C. and Vernon Furr. She was a member of New Bethel Assembly of God in Dyer. She was an artist, her art has been displayed at the San Francisco Art Gallery and is in the American archives. She was the wife of the late Reverend Hermon Porter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Wilma Cadou. She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Thomas of Fort Smith, Janice Lloyd and her husband Ricky of Van Buren, Sandra Brock and her husband Frank of Dyer, Tammie Jackson and her husband Bob of Fort Smith; two sons, Larry Porter and his wife Hilda of Houston, Terry Porter and his wife Tracie of Navarre, FL; three sisters, Robbie Frazier of Dyer, Velma Weese and her husband Boots of Dyer, Wanda Hawkins and her husband Jerry of Ozark; a brother, Doc Brasher of Dyer; fourteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Dyer Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Julian, Boots Weese, and Jerry Hawkins. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.Endnotes
