Death
CONCORD — Mrs. Gertrude Blevins Furr, 95, a resident of Concord Nursing Center and formerly of Todd Drive, Concord, NC, died November 11, 1997 at Concord Nursing Center. Funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at Forest Hill United Methodist Church, with Rev. Merrill Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation is 7-8:30 p.m. today at Lady's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. Born January 7, 1902 in Washington County, VA, Mrs. Furr was the daughter of the late Walker Blevins and Missouri Ashley Blevins. She retired several years ago from the sheet department at Cannon Mills Plant One in Kannapolis. She had lived in this area most of her life. Mrs. Furr was a member of Forest Hill United Methodist Church, She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Lee Furr, on May 15, 1978. Survivors include her grandson, Lynn Coward of Boone, NC and granddaughter, Janet Coward of Mays Landing, NJ. Memorials may be made to Forest Hill United Methodist Church, 265 Union Street North, Concord, NC 28025.
