Death
Martha Maryjane (Hatley) Bowers, 94, of 27733 Betty Road, Albemarle, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. Arrangements are being handled by Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle, where the family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Her funeral was at Immanuel Baptist Church, Albemarle at 2 p.m. Saturday, with a 30 minute state. The Rev. Joe E. Smith and The Rev. Stony Benfield officiated. Interment was at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery in Albemarle. She was born Feb. 5, 1915 in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late William Franklin Hatley and the late Mary Catherine Furr Hatley. Mrs. Bowers was employed by Allison Manufacturing - Albemarle and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Albemarle. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, The Rev. Henry Floyd Bowers, and a grandson, Todd Bowers. She is a survived by a son, Ronald Dean Bowers and wife Shirley of Albemarle; two daughters, Martha Noreda Bowers and husband Calvin of Albemarle and Judy Gail Bowers and husband Mickey of Albemarle; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
