Death
KANNAPOLIS - Joe Banks Faggart, 77, of Pine Street, formerly of the Rimer community, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord after an extended illness. Born May 14, 1930, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Faggart was a son of the late John Gay Faggart and Mary Ella Furr Faggart. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Faggart had worked at Kerr Bleachery for 35 years until he retired. He was a longtime member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Concord and enjoyed farming as a special interest. Survivors include his loving companion, Shirley Perkins, and grandchildren Micah, Kristi, Grace, Monica and Anna Perkins, and great-grandson, Joel Jr., to whom he was a loving Paw Paw; sister Ruby Manus and husband Ken of Concord; niece Trudie Duke of Concord; nephews Eddie and Johnny Faggart and Keith and Gary Manus, all of Concord; sister-in-law Betty Faggart of Concord; brother-in-law Kan Manus of Concord; special loving cousin Linda and Bob Wilson of Concord; and many, many special friends. Service: 3 p.m. Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel in Kannapolis with the Rev. Perry Lemmons and the Rev. Joseph A. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery of Concord (in the Rimer community) with military rites conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps. Visitation: 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home.
