Death
William Spencer “Bill” Taylor, 87, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022 at Atrium Health Lexington Medical Center. Born Sept. 6, 1935 in Davie County, he was the son of the late Vallie Bean Taylor and Sylvester Taylor. He attended Boyden High School and was a carpenter specializing in cabinet design and cabinet making. He was a member of World Hope Worship Center. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking and fishing at the Coast. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Jane Furr Taylor on Sept. 12, 2022 (they were married on Dec. 18, 1955); his siblings, Donald, J.C. and Johnny Taylor, Jean Greene, Patsy Shoaf, Belinda Harrison and Jackie Hiatt; and great-granddaughter Hannah Sophia Owens. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, William Randall “Randy” Taylor (Karen), Jonathan Scott Taylor (Rena); daughter, Sherry Houpt (Kris); grandchildren, Bethany Owens (Chance), Taylor Oyola (Jaime), William Taylor (Brooke), Jessica Olson (Adric), Drew Taylor (Juvi); and great-grandchildren, Winsley Owens, Zoe Oyola, Bennett Olson, Ensley Edison and Caelan Edison. Arrangements: A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, at Rowan Memorial Park conducted by Pastor Bob Bankhead. Memorials: Memorials may be made to Rowan Helping Ministries, 226 N. Long Street, Salisbury, NC 28144. Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Taylor family.Endnotes
