Shown as a widow in 1920 census, living in her father's household with children Milton and Madine. Curious since an Elbert Furr of the right age (26) to be her husband is listed two pages earlier as a boarder in the household of Artie McKinney. He is shown as married, but no spouse is listed. He is shown as born in Kansas.1930 census shows she was first married at age 15.
Death
Funeral services for John E. Furr, 77, are pending with Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Furr died Thursday in St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo after a two months illness. He was born in Indian Territory, Okla., March 1, 1893, and was reared in Fort Smith, Ark. He was married to Laverne Bittle in Fort Smith Dec. 21, 1940. He was a Baptist missionary and pastored churches in Seven Oaks, Okla., Emmanuel, Okla., Salisaw, Okla., and Fort Smith. In Pampa he operated the Sunny Land Express and was a school patrolman. Survivors are his widow; one son, Milton H., of San Antonio; three daughters, Mrs. Melvin Loftin of Watsonville. Calif., Mrs. Mark Larson of Amarillo, and Mrs. Ruth Canaday of Pampa; two step-daughters, Mrs. Thomas Burch of Fellows, Calif., and Mrs. Verlin Greiner of Pauls Valley, Okla.; 18 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.Pampa Daily News, Pampa, Texas, October 2, 1970
