Death
Vida McCrary Furr, 86, of Long Street, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, in Community General Hospital. Mrs. Furr was born June 18, 1913, in Davidson County, a daughter of William Ford and Martha Johnson McCrary. She retired from Hill Hosiery in 1975. She was a member of the West End United Methodist Church, Lillian Suggs Sunday School class and the church’s Sonshine Group. She was also a volunteer at Thomasville Primary School. On July 28, 1934, she married William G. “Bill” Furr, who died April 12, 1984. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Clifton “Kip” McCrary. Surviving are sisters, Mrs. Bryce (Ruby) Embler of Lexington, Mrs. J.B. (Margaret) Marr Sr. of Thomasville and Mrs. Nona Hartman of Thomasville; sister-in-law, Miss Elizabeth Furr of Thomasville; brother, Raymond McCrary and wife, Pat, of Thomasville, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Family Funeral Care chapel by the Rev. Greg Gordon. Burial will be in the Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home Monday.
