I am interested in obtaining information on Christian Furr, b. about 1829 in Mississippi. As recorded in the marriage records of Anderson County, Texas, my ancestor Polly H. Hassell, born Dec. 22, 1833 in Hickman County, Tennessee, (sister of my great grandfather William Jennett Hassell) married Christian Furr in Anderson County on August 5, 1853. We have searched for information on her without results.
Today on Ancestry.com in the 1860 Census Records of Liberty County, Texas, I discovered the enclosed census record for Christian Furr, born 1829 in Mississippi, and his wife, Mary, born 1833 in Tennessee. They and their children are counted in the household of Eli Furr, born 1803 in North Carolina. I feel almost certain that Polly must have been a nickname for the given name Mary. Would appreciate any information you can give me.
Polly Hassell moved with her parents, John and Cary G. Hudson Hassell, and her siblings from Hickman County, Tennessee, to Anderson County, Texas in January 1845.
