Death
CONCORD -- Mrs. Mary Evelyn Furr Bost, 91, of 147 Spring Street SW, died Monday, May 6, 2002 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Southside Baptist Church, Rev. Robert Leonard officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service, at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, 461 Church Street North. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home. The family will be at 147 Spring Street the remainder of the time. Mrs. Bost was born August 7, 1910, to the late James Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Price Furr. She was retired from What-A-Burger, a restaurant chain originated by the late C.W. Bost and the late E.L. "Ebb" Bost, who were not related. She graduated from Bethel School, was a Christian and a charter member of Southside Baptist Church, a former choir member and a dedicated teacher in the Church Nursery. She was the widow of the late Caleb Watson "Dub" Bost, Jr. She was preceded in death by her son, Caleb Watson Bost III of Concord, sisters, Pauline Ferguson of Midland and Bedie White of Charlotte and brothers, Smith Furr of Midland and Roland Furr of Concord. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Linda B. Privette and husband, Dr. Jerry Privette of Concord; sister, Colin F. Efrid of Midland, and brother, Mr. Tom Furr of Charlotte; 3 grandsons, Martin Privette of Gallatin, TN, Gary Privette of Nashville, TN, and Caleb Watson Bost IV of Asheville, NC; 4 granddaughters, Cynthia Ross of Marion, VA, Katherine Reavis of Durham, NC, Deatry Morrison of Harrisburg, and Malaine Gill of Murfreesboro, TN; 8 great grandsons, 8 great granddaughters, 11 nieces and 8 nephews. Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 561 Union Cemetery Road, Concord, NC 28027-6961, or Hospice of Cabarrus County, P.O. Box 1235, Concord, NC 28026-1235. Wilkinson Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements for Mrs. Bost.Obituary published in The Charlotte Observer on May 8, 2002.
