Death
Mrs. Bedie Elizabeth Furr White, 85, of 1019 Saratoga Drive, died March 27, 1990 at Hawthorne Nursing Center. Mrs. White was born on February 14, 1905 to the late James Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Price Furr. Mrs. White was predeceased by her husband, Junis N. White. A native of Cabarrus County, NC, Mrs. White was a member of Thomasboro Baptist Church, where she was a former choir member and Quilting Club member. She graduated from Midland High School and then attended Southern Industrial School, later known as Baldwin School, from 1923 until 1925. Mrs. White was employed with General Motors from 1925 until 1929. She later was employed with What-A-Burger in Belmont, NC. Mrs. White taught the 12 year old Sunday School Class at Hoskins Avenue Baptist Church and at Thomasboro Baptist Church for many years. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday at Thomasboro Baptist Church with the Reverends Lewis Howard and Gary Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until funeral time Friday at the church. She is survived by her children, Mrs. Bedie June Byars of Charlotte, NC and Boyd White of Clover, SC; two brothers, Roland Furr of Concord, NC and Thomas Furr of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Bost of Concord, NC and Mrs. Colin Efird of Midland, NC; four grandsons, Charles E. Byars, Jr., Timothy Byars, Kelli Neal White and Steven Boyd White, and one special granddaughter, Ms. Frances Ervin. The family will be at the daughter’s home, 4621 Kavanaugh Drive. Memorials may be made to Thomasboro Baptist Church, 216 Bradford Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208, or Shamrock Drive Baptist Church, 4301 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
