Death

Fama Loretta Furr was born August 5, 1924 in Tulsa the daughter of George Bennett Rainey and Vera Opal (Martin) Rainey. She passed from this life on Monday, February 2, 2015 in Tulsa at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 28 days. Fama was a 1944 graduate of Webster High School and was a member of View Acres Baptist Church. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and she collected Hummel figurines and dolls. She married Chester Gordon Furr on February 15, 1947 in Tulsa and together they raised three children. She leaves behind her loving husband of nearly 68 years, Chester Furr, of Tulsa; sons, Lionel Furr, and wife, Susan, of Tulsa, and Steven Furr of Tulsa; daughter, Loretta Jean “Jeannie” Douglass and husband, Clayton, of Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Erica Johnson of Broken Arrow, Stephanie Furr of Los Angeles, CA, Sara Fowler of Broken Arrow and Matthew Furr of Tulsa; 11 great grandchildren. Fama was preceded in death by both of her parents and two sisters. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, February 6, 2015 in the Heath-Griffith Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow. Arrangements are under the direction of Heath-Griffith Funeral Home, 918-446-6633.
