Death
Services for Carrie McGee, 74, of Seminole, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Tony Folger will officiate. Burial will follow at Cairo Cemetery near Wardville. Carrie Jean departed this life on Sunday, February 28, 2016, surrounded by family, following complications from a stroke. Carrie was born January 19, 1942 in McAlester to Frances and Mary Furr Roberts. She married Tommy McGee August 2, 1959. He preceded her in death in 2001. Carrie’s passion was education, having spent forty-five years in the classroom touching and shaping lives of her students. Her other interests included politics and various charitable organizations such as Wounded Warriors and the Alzheimer’s Association. Survivors include her four daughters, Melinda Stone and husband Richard, Seminole, Jill Brown and husband Ron, Ada, Angie McGee, Oklahoma City and Sarah McGee, Konawa; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Luke Tapp, Russell and Rachel Brown, Joshua Whittington, Jordan Marsh and Dylan Tarver; two step-grandchildren, Caleb and Nathan Stone; two great-grandsons, Cullen Whittington and Rylan Tarver; two sisters, Mary Frances Ogden, Houston, TX and Jenny Morgan, Seminole; and a brother, Sam Roberts and wife Suzanne, Harker Heights, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, JoAnn Dale. Bearers will be Ron Brown, Richard Stone, Joshua Whittington, Russell Brown, Jordan Marsh, Dylan Tarver and Lucas Tapp. Honorary bearer will be Ryan Tapp.Endnotes
