Death

Charlotte, North Carolina - Carl Donald (CD) Hathcock, 71, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Presbyterian Hospital. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 6-8 pm at Living Saviour Lutheran Church, 6817 Carmel Rd. Charlotte, NC 28226. A celebration of life service will be held the following day at the church at 1 pm with Pastor Angela Powell officiating. CD was born on February 4, 1950 in Albemarle, NC. He was the son of the late Carl Dawson Hathcock and Mary Frances Furr Hathcock. He grew up in North Augusta, SC. He graduated from Wofford College in 1972. CD served in the US Army Reserves. He worked at Southern Bell/BellSouth/AT&T for 37 years. CD was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His sense of humor, quick wit, and love of music infused his being. He loved playing his guitar and singing. He was a choir member in every church he joined, as his work required moves every few years. He was an active member of Living Saviour Lutheran Church in Charlotte, where he also taught the LSLC Preschool children Chapel each week. "Mr. CD" had great faith and always had a story and song to share. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Moss Oates Hathcock, daughter, Beth Hathcock Hawley, son, Chris Hathcock (Carmen), grandsons, Preston and Cardon Hawley, niece, Lee Oates Johnston (Wesley and Hunter). In memory of CD Hathcock, memorials may be made to Living Saviour Lutheran Church, 6817 Carmel Rd. Charlotte, NC 28226. Bratton Funeral Home of York, SC is serving the Hathcock family.
