Notes
Death
Margaret Copeland Caldwell went to heaven to join her husband, the late Maurice Lee Caldwell, on Wednesday, December 28, 2011. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage and the blessing of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Born in 1921 in Memphis, her parents were the late William A. Copeland and Nina Marie Furr Copeland. Margaret graduated from Southside High School and attended the Memphis Academy of Art. She was employed at The Commercial Appeal Newspaper and at Sears and Roebuck as a commercial artist. Art became a life-long hobby rather than a career once she and Maurice started their family. A member of Union Avenue Baptist Church since 1957, she enjoyed teaching preschoolers using her art skills. Since becoming homebound, she appreciated the He Cares ministry of First Evangelical Church. Surviving family includes siblings Patrick Copeland of Purcellville, VA; Billy Copeland of Mobile, AL, and Wilma Bickers, Loudon, TN. Margaret and Maurice had two daughters: Carol Newman (Jim) of Memphis and Pamela Vaughan (Gary) of Fordyce, Arkansas. There are four grandchildren: Stacey Pritchard (David) and Daniel Newman of Memphis; Justin Vaughan of Little Rock, and Blake Vaughan (Megan) of Birmingham, AL. She was delighted by her three great-grandchildren: Sara Beth Pritchard, Jake Pritchard, and Katie Pritchard all of Memphis. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens on Poplar Avenue. Interment will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens.
