Individual Details

Sarah "Sally" FURR

(31 Mar 1801 - 8 Jul 1863)

Per Lina Boyd, "I contacted Reid Heilig to ask him if he could help with the family of George Heilig and Sarah Furr. After I sent my first message, I included my phone number and he called me. One of the things he told me was that this family owned Heilig-Barnhardt Gold Mine. I believe he said it was located in Rowan County, North Carolina, but I'm not sure about this. He also said that Sarah was called "Golden Sally". They lost much of their wealth after the Civil War. Her family was very prominent in Rowan County history. He said that their children were all listed in the Organ Lutheran Church baptism records. According to him, there is a very expensive book done by this church for sale. But the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of North Carolina also has these records and will search them. He also mentioned the McCubbin collection at the Salisbury, NC public library."
