Death

Mrs. Sarah Rebecca Lowder Furr, age 87, of 230 North 4th Street, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Wednesday, December 29th, 2010 in Britthaven of Piedmont Nursing Center in Albemarle, NC. Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and her funeral will be on Monday, January 3rd, 2011, at 2 PM in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel. At other times, her family will be at the home of a son, Donnie "Duke" Furr - 1007 Northbrook Drive, Albemarle, NC. Rev. Roger Thomas will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park. Born January 23rd, 1923 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Furr was the daughter of the late Baldy Henderson and Bessie McClay Moose Lowder. She was a graduate of Albemarle High School, former Owner & Operator of the Pet Shop, and former Owner & Operator of Duke's Burger Shop. She was also President of the B-Moss, Inc. and a member of First Baptist Church in Albemarle, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Moss Furr; one brother, Jack Lowder; and three sisters: Gertrude Whitley, Lucille Pearce, and Nell Barrier. She is survived by three sons: Johnny Furr of Albemarle, NC, Ronnie "Rip" Furr of Lake Norman, NC, and Donnie "Duke" Furr of Albemarle, NC; one daughter, Barbara Furr Morton; four grandchildren: Kyle Morton, Kricket Morton, Leigh Ellen Furr, and William Furr; and two great-grandchildren, Anslee Morton and Carson Morton.
