First established in 1976, Lake Shore Estates was founded by Henry and Yvonne Furr. The more than 300 acre development was built on family farm land. It boasts a total of 6 individual ponds and a private 42 acre community lake at the center of the neighborhood. Most home sites are on one to two acres.

Death
Henry Lee Furr, 83 years of age, of Concord, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast in Concord. Henry was born April 27, 1933 in Concord, NC to the late Timothy Henry Furr and the late Ola Mae Drye Furr. He was also preceded in death by sisters Mary Catherine Furr Cooke and Annie Doris Furr Greene; as well as his brother Ralph Moses Furr. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Yvonne Star Love Furr of the home; son Tony Lee Furr, Sr. and wife Shannon Ewing Furr; son Henry "Tim" Furr and wife Annette Fink Furr; grandchildren Tony Lee Furr, Jr. and wife Jessica Zbonzy Furr, Ross Furr and wife Tara Ludwig Furr, and Ann-Marie Furr; brother Ray H. Furr and wife Brenda Furr; as well as several nieces and nephews. Henry was owner, builder and promoter of the Concord Motor Speedway. He owned Furr Grading Company and developed Lake Shore Estates and Lee Star Rentals, LLC. Henry also helped build Charlotte Motor Speedway while working for D.W. Flowe Grading of Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, February 24, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord, officiated by Rev. Randy Langford and Rev. Robert Howard. Burial will follow at the Miami Baptist Church Cemetery, Concord, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Miami Baptist Church, 6701 Miami Church Rd, Concord, NC 28025.
