Notes
Death
Mrs. Sarah Furr Efird, 69 years of age, and prominent woman of the St. Martins section, died at her home Sunday morning at 9 o’clock. Mrs. Efird was the wife of S. B. Efird, one of the county’s well-known farmers. She suffered a stroke of paralysis about nine years ago, and had never fully recovered. Funeral services were held at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church on Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock, with Rev. Mr. Jeffcoat, the pastor, officiating. Mrs. Efird had been a member of this church for years being active in the church and Sunday School work. The floral offerings were very beautiful, and special vocal music was rendered by the twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Burris, aged 7 years. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Besides her husband, Mrs. Efird is survived by five sons and three daughters. Thirty grand children and a large number of great grandchildren. She was one of the best known and loved women in that community, and had many friends.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, September 24, 1929
