Death
SUNBURY - Robert G. Teisher, 88, of Sunbury died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Kramm Nursing Home, Milton. He was born Jan. 16, 1916, in Mount Carmel, a son of the late Joy Victor and Elizabeth (Powell) Teisher. On Sept. 29, 1942, he married E. Jeanne Furr, who survives. Mr. Teisher graduated from the IOOF High School, the Old Orphanage School, and from Pennsylvania State University in 1938 with a bachelor's degree in commerce and finance. He was a captain in the Army, serving with the infantry in World War II. He participated in D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Teisher was an accountant by profession and worked with the U.S. Postal Service, Department of Public Welfare, Gulf Oil and First National Bank. He was a member of American Legion Post 201. Robert played the trumpet in the Orphanage band. Most of all, he enjoyed being with family and his grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children and their spouses, Jacquelyn S. Taylor of Sunbury, Kathy A. and Richard Kirkpatrick of Selinsgrove and Robert V. and Susan of Muncy; seven grandchildren, Richard S. Taylor, Tammy L. Upwall, Adam G. Taylor and Katy J., Keegan A. Kirkpatrick, Robert E. and Sean C. Teisher; six great-grandchildren, Maika M., Ian S. and Jared B. Taylor and Leticia R., Sadie H. and Gage M. Upwall; one sister, Mabel Mertz of Camp Hill; many nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Joy, Victor, Kinsley and John Teisher, and two sisters, Myrna Starr and Hannah Schreffler. Friends and family may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, where the funeral will follow at 3 with Richard Kirkpatrick, his son-in-law, officiating.The Daily Item from Aug. 4 to Aug. 5, 2004
