Death
Mrs. J. W. Furr died at her home in Llano at an early hour Monday morning of this week after an illness of short duration. Mrs. Furr, the former Miss Gladys Irene Graham, was born in Callahan county, Texas, April 17, 1906. She was 38 years, three months and nine days of age at the time of her death. On September 12, 1926, she united in marriage with J. W. Furr. They moved to Llano October 1, 1929 where he became associated with Geo. M. Watkins. Mrs. Furr had operated a beauty shop in Llano for 14 years. Besides the husband, the deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Muriele Stephens, of North Hollywood, California, one grandchild. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Lela Graham, of Van Nuys, California, who with the daughter were at the funeral. Two: brothers. CPO Stanley O. Graham, USN, of New Orleans, and Lt. Clark G. Graham, of the Army Air Forces in England; and one sister, Mrs. Grace Andrews, of North Hollywood, also survive. Mrs. Furr was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral services were conducted by Glenn L. Wallace, of Los Angeles, assisted by M. C. Forrester, of Austin, Wednesday afternoon and interment was in the Llano cemetery under the direction of Miles Buttery, local undertaker. Pallbearers were Lt. Eugene Willis, of Westover Field, Mass., Elwood Kothman, of Mason, W. R. Orr, R. P. McWilliams, Howard Wallace and Bailey Ratliff.The Llano News, Llano, Texas, July 27, 1944
