Woman dies in hunting accident
By: Kim Windmiller December 08, 2003
A Brookhaven woman died Saturday from an apparent hunting accident, according to authorities. Debbie Furr, 51, of 1505 Nola Road, was found dead in a wooded area near her residence by her husband, Bobby Furr, said Lincoln County Coroner-Medical Examiner Clay McMorris. "She went hunting about 7:45 a.m.," McMorris said, and when her husband couldn't contact her later, he became worried. Bobby Furr took off work and went to the area where his wife was hunting, McMorris said. He found her dead of a gunshot wound to the upper body, said McMorris. "It's always sad this time of year during hunting season to have a fatality," said McMorris. Mrs. Furr was pronounced dead at the scene around 2 p.m. by McMorris. An autopsy was performed Sunday and the investigation is still ongoing. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A full obituary is on page 3 of today's newspaper.
