Death

MOUNT HOLLY - Janet Carol Gibson, 76, of 319 Gaston Avenue, died Friday, May 24, 2013. She was born in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Lester Furr, Sr. and Ardenia Benton Furr. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Furr, Jr., and one sister, Diane Furr. Mrs. Gibson is survived by her husband, Bill Gibson; a daughter, Elizabeth Carol King of Charlotte; a son, Russell Clark King of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Michael A. Corum, Ashley M. Briggs, and Jennifer C. Briggs all of Charlotte; two sisters, Peggy McGee and husband Mack of Lenoir, NC and Judy Mills of Longs, SC; and seven brothers, Tim Furr and wife Bonnie of Sunset Beach, NC, Richard Furr of Charlotte, Steve Furr and wife Susan of Charlotte, Arthur Furr of Charlotte, Ronnie Furr of Charlotte, Mike Furr of Huntersville, and Donnie Furr of Charlotte. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Gibson, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in Mrs. Gibson's memory. Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly is serving the family.
