Death
The marriage bond for Dandridge Brown and Martha Cummins was cosigned by the groom and Daniel Morgan, the step-father of the bride.This suggests that Martha Cummins' father died, or there was a divorce. I think that it more likely that he died before she was married.
This also suggests that Martha Cummins' mother, Sally Spears remarried (Daniel Morgan).
The 1850 Census record for Daniel Morgan has two Cummins children, Mary (age 18) and William (age 15).
William would have been born in 1834 or 1835. Thus Jacob was alive at that time. This closes the window of his death to between 1834 (when William was concived) and 1838 (when Martha remarried, unless they divorced).
An inventory of the Estate of Jacob Cummins was produced in the Anderson County Court on 29 November 1834. Thus he died in 1834.
Sally Cummins, widow of Jacob Cummins, was appointed as the administratrix of the estate on 10 November 1834.
