Tebina DELAMEETER
(21 Jul 1706 - Say 1707)
"Cornelius (11), (son of Jan), had issue:
45. Tebina, baptized July 21, 1706.
46. Zeletie, baptized August 4, 1706 ..."
Because it was the Dutch custom to baptize children within the first month or so, it would seem clear that Tebina and Zeletie were twins. One could explain the early baptism of Tebina on the grounds that she was sickly and not expected to survive. The absence of further records supports her early death.
However, an examination of the Kingston Church baptism records do not reveal a baptism of Tebina, although another child was baptized that day. My tentative conclusion is that Riker wrote "baptized" when he should have written "born," leading me to conclude that both girls were born on 21 July and the only survivor, Zeletie, was baptized on August 4.
