Individual Details
Alice [wife of William Mullins] [UNKNOWN-NOT ATWOOD NOR PORETIERS]
(Abt 1575 - Aft 21 Feb 1620/21)
"Alice's maiden name is not known. Claims that she was Alice Atwood ... derive from a mistake published by Elijah Francis Atwood...which he later discarded when chronological evidence proved the connection could not be correct. Likewise, the source for the entry in Clarence Almon Torrey's New England Marriages Prior to 1700, which lists Alice's surname as "[Poretiers]?," cannot be found."
Alice married William Mullins, but no date is known. Anderson's Great Migrations suggests it was prior to 1693, based on ages (also inferred) of the children.
Neither are there dates of baptism for the children, so it cannot be proven that Alice is their mother. She is assumed to be the mother because of the lack of documented alternatives.
In his accounting of the Mayflower passengers, Bradford recorded that she died in the "winter of 1621" but no precise date was provided. We know, though, that she died after her husband's will on 21 February 1621.
