JOHN BASIL JOY wrote his will on 8/25/1777 and it was probated on 5/26/1778. He left one sterling shilling to his sons PETER, JOHN, RICHARD and JOSEPH and to his daughters ELEANOR TARLTON, ANN MORRIS, and MARY JOY "it being their full share of estate". After his wife SARAH received her one third, the rest of the children were to share equally in his estate, namely: MILDRED JOY, THOMAS TARLTON JOY, ELIZABETH JOY, BENEDICT JOY, STEPHEN JOY and JOHN JOY.
