Death certificate
June 1, 1880 census says age 60
June 1, 1970 census says age 50
Birth
Name is spelled as "Abigail Sowle" by Delano.Sidney Vital Records states specifically that she was born in Jay.
Sidney Vital Records states her name as Abigail T Abbott.
Abbott genealogy says day is 25, but also says that "Delano Reg" gives day as 23.
Marriage Bann
See the Marriage fact for discussion of various dates for intentions and marriage.Marriage
The Sidney town clerk recorded intentions on 3 April 1846 and marriage on 19 April. “Maine Marriages”, a compilation of disparate records, gives 5 April as the date of marriage as does “Early Waterville Maine Families.” However, “Maine Marriages” also contains records giving a marriage date of 19 April. From this, it is reasonable to infer that intentions were recorded on Friday, 3 April, providing enough time for them to be read in church on Sunday, 5 April and the two succeeding Sundays, allowing a marriage later in the day on Sunday, 19 April. This is the date provided in “Descendants of Abraham Sampson.” The 1900 census is an exception. Its claim of married for 50 years would give a marriage date in 1850. Because it contradicts all other records, we must assume that the answer “50” was given simply as a round number.Residence (family)
The 1850 census record also lists a Harason Osgood, 50 years old, born in Maine.Dennis Cottle is listed on the same page at an adjacent dwelling
Residence (family)
The 1860 census also lists Martha J Bickford, female, 20 years old, as a domestic. It also lists Ananias Cottle, age 72, born in Massachusetts (but keep in mind that Maine was a part of Massachusetts before 1820).Religion
I infer this from the fact that the pastor of the church presided at her funeral.Burial
According to obituary, funeral was at home of daughter, Mrs Thomas Confer, conducted by Rev W H Patterson, pastor of the Disciple Church of Blanchard.Headstone reads, "Wife of Albert Cottle, Born in Maine May 23, 1820"
