Lydia YOUNG
(1664 - 1719)
Recently, with the permission of all known stakeholders, including me, Lydia Young, the wife of Samuel Hatch, and Lydia Young, the wife of John Murdock, were merged. As I performed research to revise the profile, I discovered that this profile represented an impossibility. The two men married two different women named Lydia. Here are some conclusions:
- There are near-original records stating that the wife of John Murdock is Lydia Young.
- The only near-original records that I can find state that the wife of Samuel Hatch is "Lydia ____".
- I can find no record to confirm that the Lydia Young who married John Murdock is the Lydia Young who was born in 1664 in Eastham.
- "Lydia" is a very common name in Plymouth Colony during this period.
- There was more than one Lydia Young in Plymouth Colony, including a Lydia Young who married a Hatch (but not this Samuel Hatch).
Accordingly, I have revised this profile to separate Lydia Young (wife of Murdock) from Lydia ___ (wife of Hatch).

Notes
Birth
Some indexes cite Orleans as the place of birth, but Orleans was not split off of Eastham until 1797.The index states that space was left for day and month in the original.
Death
It should be noted that there are two records of her burial in Find-A-Grave with differing information regarding date and place of death and place of burial. The death record for 1719 seems likely to be more accurate because John Murdock remarried in 1719.
