Phillip ERBAUGH

(Feb 1853 - 31 Jul 1935)

Remembrances of Vinna (Bowers) Helstern, tape-recorded 1989 by Bob Gross
#3 Erbaugh family "Grandpa Erbaugh had relatives all over Madison Twp and that part of Montg Co. He married a Susan Bowser.... One day a cousin said, ‘Russ, look what I found among Grandpa’s papers. ’ It was a little piece of paper about 4 by 8 inches; special looking paper. It was the deed to a section of land along Wolf Creek and Gettysburg Ave and it was signed by James Madison as Sec. Of State. So I guess some of the relatives were settled there for a good long time.... Some of the Bowser kin living on a piece of that land up into the late 1940's....
Grandpa Erbaugh’s family partly settled there; one of them went to Montana; the city drove all of them out of farming...."
