The Canton Repository of 10 May 1827 confirms this date of death, 28 Sept 1825.Military
Uriah Bowers' letters to his grandson included on the Web site "www.ratherthecontrary.com" by John Bowers indicate that his ancestor Jacob served in the battles of Long Island, Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, Germantown and Monmouth.In June, 1775 he enlisted for one year and served as a private under Capt. Michael Cresap. In Oct 1776 he enlisted for 5 years as a private.
In March, 1952, Robert Thomas Evans, descendant of Jacob Bower (or Bowers) applied for [Bowers] membership in the "Arizona Society of the Sons of the American Revolution." That application was approved in April, 1952.
