On 5-13-1790, Thomas John Chilton sold his interest in the 321 acres of land his father owned in Loudoun County, Virginia, to Jacob Reed.Miscellaneous
Thomas John Chilton was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1791. He served on a committee that signed the articles that united the Regular and Separate Baptists in 1801. By 1803, he was a leader of the party that formed the South Kentuckt Association of Separate Baptists.Until about 1822, he preached in Garrard and surrounding counties in Kentucky. At this time he lost his property in a bid to open a salt works.
He moved to Larue County, Kentucky, and served as pastor of the Big Spring Baptist Church until 1836. In 1835, he published A History of the Baptists.

After 1822, he lived in present-day Larue County, KY, (then Hardin County.)He used the Chilton surname.
