On 10-16-1755, George Chilton (spelled Chelton and Shelton) leased 193 acres in Carter's Goose Creek Tract from Robert Carter of Westmoreland County, Virginia.The lease was for the lifetime of George Chilton, his wife Sarah, and his oldest daughter Sarah Chilton.
The surname Chilton is spelled Shelton and Chelton in the lease.

Will
George Chilton made his will on 2-2-1771, at Shelburne Parish, Loudoun County, Virginia.He designated his estate to be distributed as follows:
Ann, his wife - a Negro man named Ben; a sevant woman named Catherine Elliott; bed and furniture; two cows and calves; and all his sheep.

Thomas John Chilton, his son - the tract of land on which he lived; a Negro woman named Jane
Mary Chilton, his daughter - a Negro woman named Mill
George Chilton's Goose Creek plantation was to be kept operational until the white servants on it became free and then the plantation lease was to be sold.
The remainder of his estate at that time was to be given to his children Thomas John and Mary Chilton.
George Chilton named his wife, Thomas Owsley, Anthony Russell, and Thomas Lewis as executors.
George Chilton's will was proven on 4-9-1771, his wife renounced her rights under the will, and Thomas Owsley was appointed executor.
