Records at the Oklahoma Historical Society show him to be a doctor of medicine. Possibly named after Indian Agent Richard W. Cummins, whom his father, Henry Tiblow, served as Interpreter.

He is laid to rest in the Ketchum Cemetery in the East Center Section and his tombstone reads: Dr. Richard W. Tiblow. Born March 10, 1856. Died September 22, 1897. Son of Henry and Mary Tiblow. Aged: covered by cement on the stone. "Though the Body Molders/The Soul is in Heaven".
