THOMAS ROOTE

( - 17 Jun 1694)

Thomas Roote is thought to have been the son of John Roote and Ann Russell. He immigrated to America about 1637, settling in Hartford, CT, as one of the first settlers. He owned several lots including one on NOrth Main Stree.
He was a soldier in Pequot, 1637.
About 1654 in moved to Northampton, MA where he appointed selectman in 1654.
Married Sarah Gale, 23 Dec 1638, Farmington Twp, Hartford Co, CT - another researcher says she was Elizabeth Gale. Still another researcher states he married Mary Kilbourne. In other word - there is no proof of his wife's name - she was deceased when he wrote his will.

He left a will, naming his children and the fact that he was then living with his son Jonathan on the old homestead.
