The young Archibald first appeared on the tax rolls of Logan Co in 1831, declaring no white male over 21, and a horse. The 1832 tax book is missing. By 1833, he did declare himself to be over 21.

In September and October of that same year, Nathaniel W. Felts was administrator of the estate of James A. Felts and was one of the appraisers of the estate of Archibald Felts.
