William E. Longmire, died 10 Mar 1919, Indianapolis, Marion Co, IN of cerebral hemorhage. Address was 542 Warren Ave. He was born 7 Dec 1864 in North Carolina. He was married, wife named as Lucinda Longmire. Occupation - Engineer. Father, Allen R. Longmire; mother, Elizabeth Stroud, both born North Carolina. Informant was Miss Ella Longmire of 542 Warren Ave. Buried Clayton, IN on March 13th.

William E. Longmire was the sixth of eight children granted to the watchcare of Allen & Elizabeth Longmire, and was born in Guilford Co, NC, December 7, 1864. With the family of his parents, he came to a farm near Greenfield, Ind., in 1869, where the family remained for some ten years, when they again moved westward, locating in Hendricks county, near Belleville, With the exception of a few years spent in Illinois and Missouri, Belleville remained the family home until death claimed the mother in 1885. In Nov 1886, William was united in marriage to Miss Lucinda Noel of Belleville, Squire Millard F. Jones performing the ceremony.
....set up housekeeping ...just west of Clayton, where they remained until Jan 1889, when they removed to near Ramsey and later to Mattoon, IL, remaining until 1896, when they returned to Indiana.
....To this union were born nine children as follows: Mabel Dee, James W., Etta Elizabeth, Harry A., George W., Ralph D., Lillie M., Dorothy Belle and Horace R. Of these Mabel Dee and Dorothy Belle preceded their father to the better land. James W., George W. and Ralph D. were in the service of Uncle Sam, George W. reaching England as repairer of airplanes and Ralph D. saw active service on the battle front and is now in Germany.
....Some five years ago he (William) suffered a light paralytic stroke and in the course of a month another and heavier stroke, since which his decline has been gradual until he "crossed the bar.".
....In the summer of 1913 ...confessed his Christ and untied with the River Avenue Baptist Church of Indianapolis
...Death came to his release Monday noon, March 10, 1919
...On Thursday morning the remains were brought to Clayton were funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church by Rev. Joel N. Blue of Danville, after which the remains were placed at rest in the cemetery south of town.
