PORTALES, N.M. - Graveside services for Treathel Criswell, 83, father* (sic - MOTHER) of Mrs. Wayne (Rosalie) McClanahan of Plainview, will be at 1 p.m. (MDT) Friday in Portales Cemetery with Dr. Jim Woodworth, pastor of First Christian Church in Plainview, officiating. Burial arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
Mrs. Criswell died Tuesday, April 27, 1993, in Muleshoe Area Health Care Center.
She was born Treathel Churchwell on April 3, 1910, in Marlow, Okla., where she grew up. Her husband was manager of J.C.Penney's stores and they lived in cities in Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri before moving to Portales in 1951 and where they operated Criswell Western Wear. She moved to Plainview to make her home with her daughter and son-in-law in 1968. She moved in April 1992 to a nursing home in Muleshoe.
She was a homemaker and member of First Christian Church in Plainview, order of Eastern Star, and had served as High Priestess of the White Shrine. She also taught Sunday school for high school and college age students.
She married C.R. Criswell on Oct. 19, 1930, in Chickasha, Okla. He died Sept. 8, 1968.
Other survivors include another daughter, Mrs. Hubert "Bud" (Jean) Lewis of Biloxi, Miss.; a sister, Henrietta Jones of Dale, Ind.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
